Getting Back Up To Speed

The last Celestial Wheel was a short-subject VedicLeaks entry on April 19.  That was a direct email entry, but it has also been posted to the web -- to provide an unbroken string of predictions. April 19, 2015

Further, recent Celestial Wheel VedicLeaks and In-depth forecasts are listed on the home page, including synopses, current forecasting is easily accessible.  Home Page

Finally, the Home Page has a link to all forecasting.  Archives -- Since July 2002

The April 19, 2015 entry is titled, Some Mental Turbulence And Turbulent Weather Too!  Here's the synopsis from the Home Page.

Celestial Wheel Forecasting

Much of the Celestial Wheel's forecasting, and especially the Short-subject VedicLeaks, uses transits analysis.  Transits are the planets in today's skies and are literally planetary weather.  To make this global, the natural zodiac beginning with Aries is applied.  Transit analysis is a broad-brushed tool, lacking many specifics and certainly not applying to everyone and everywhere.  But transits are what we mundane (world) astrologers have to use in mapping out valuable information global planetary weather.  To gain perspective on what this actually means, compare transit analysis predictions to meteorologists' forecasts -- not always exactly correct, but overall the information is useful, actually indispensable.

Celestial Wheel forecasting also applies transits to individual charts of people, nations, organizations...  Anyone born or anything created has a birth chart.  These, which shows house numbers in the signs and planetary placements in the houses give further and more specific information.

Vedic Astrology additionally, and uniquely, uses planetary cycles, called Dasas. These are Vedic's primary predictive tool.  Transits are secondary.  (Western Astrology has only transits.)  The analogy given many times over the years in Celestial Wheel forecasting is Dasas are like the river of life, down which you travel in your "lifeboat," and transits are weather events on the river.  When Dasas and transits match up, events can be reliability predicted.

Lastly, because this is a U.S. based publication, the U.S.'s chart, with its attendant Dasas and house-specific transits is almost always considered, albeit implicitly, when transit analysis global planetary weather predictions are made.  An example here is the above prediction for violent thunderstorms and tornados mid April to mid May.  Beyond the natural zodiac transits indicating rough weather, the U.S. chart is especially afflicted by transits and tough Dasa planets.  See, today's Severe Weather Continues Through Weekend; Plains Outbreak Possible Saturday (FORECAST).  (Trying to explain all this is simply too complex and confuses readers.)  There remains, then, another week on the severe weather clock.

Spring Break

April 19 was the last Celestial Wheel forecast, breaking the informal schedule of publishing something at least once weekly.  This spring break occurred because, as the April 19, 2015 entry also explained,

The (above) April 12 VedicLeaks entry explained in some detail auspicious placements of the three major benefic planets, portending a A Very Nice Spring.  Jupiter, Venus and Mercury are all well disposed in favorable signs for the next few months -- until early July.

That is, with a pretty tough/restrictive winter over, the planets signaled positive karmas which this astrologer used to advantage.  Being a one man band, Celestial Wheel forecasting was set aside for a few weeks.

Transit Positions For A Very Nice Spring

The chart on the left is for April 12 was published in the VedicLeaks entry for that date.  The right side chart is for today, May 7.

The benefics remain well disposed.  Venus has shifted from Taurus to Gemini, a sign ruled her her friend Mercury.  Mercury has moved from Aries into Taurus, a sign ruled by its friend Venus.  Of further advantage is tha,t because Venus and Mercury sit in each others' signs, they support each other.  Fun, creativity, charm and pleasures result.

This is variably called mutual reception, exchange of signs and PariVartana Yoga.  For the last, Yoga means special combination, and the benefits are that the planets reinforce each other.  And since Venus and Mercury are both benefic planets and friends (meaning they get along together), both planets are uplifted.

Yes, Mars continues to afflict Mercury, making the mind go to fast and stimulating scheming and selfishness for gain without regard for ethics.  As stated April 12  in the entry, Mars/Mercury is the combination for liars, lawyers, thieves and politicians.  And, restrictive Saturn throws an aspect (glance) to Mercury, worsening some schemes into skullduggery.   Still, Venus balances out much of these harms.  So, there's a lot of communications stuff going on.

Jupiter remains in Cancer, his exalted sign, bringing forward his best traits of justice, honor and truth.  He further balances out Mercury's sometimes nefarious actions -- or at least catches Mercury at it!  Too, the royal Sun is exalted in Aries, stimulating his nobility -- right actions, not ignoble ones.

So, the Very Nice Spring continues.  Enjoy it.  Just watch out of shysters, con men, and, of course, all lawyers!

The below was a direct email entry.

Heads-up
Saturn/Mars Opposition

Saturn and Mars, the two great malefics, are on course for a direct opposition just after midnight May 15 -- this coming Friday.  Their energies are contrasting.  Saturn is suffering and loss, and Mars is aggression and anger.  Saturn is cold and Mars is hot.  Saturn is slow and Mars is fast. Saturn is patience.  Mars wants everything now.  Saturn is a neuter and Mars is male.  A key word to describe their merged energies is struggle.

It's not unusual for these planets to afflict each other.  In fact, they did so by being in each others' signs last fall and winter.  The February 3 VedicLeaks explained,

And in August of last year, Mars and Saturn battled it out in conjunction in Libra.  The August 6 VedicLeaks entry explained,

Note especially the harms begin before the exact conjunction, when the planets are 3 to 4 degrees away from each other.  That is the case today.  In fact, Saturn and Mars are now just under 3 degrees from exact opposition.

And, since this spring is like last summer for the three benefics all being favorably disposed, we can expect this next excerpt from the August 6 VedicLeaks entry to also hold true,

This global transit chart for early Friday shows the Saturn/Mars opposition. As Saturn is immobile and structure, it is like a castle wall -- protecting -- but also like a jail cell -- imprisoning.  Being Saturn stuck is a good descriptor.  But note its position in Scorpio, a harmful house, which weakens it -- like a castle built upon swampy soil.   (Also see that Saturn is retrograde, which further weakens it.)

Mars, the planet of war, is like artillery fired at the wall.  Since Saturn is already weakened in Scorpio and by being retrograde, Mars' blasts can break the Saturn wall, freeing that which it imprisons -- like you! And keep in mind that while Saturn holds things back, sometimes we just use its energy to hold ourselves back.  Yes, it's a tough way to gain your freedom and mobility to act, but the result it worth it.

Fortunately, Saturn/Mars destructions shouldn't be difficult to manage because Jupiter, Venus and Mercury are so strong.  Further, Jupiter and Mercury aspect Saturn and Mercury conjoins Mars -- benefic energies blunting the malefics' harms.  Of further benefit, the all-important Moon is not in the mix. Thereby, major calamities are not predicted.

There is a fly in the ointment, though, for Mercury goes retrograde May 19, which will make conflict resolution difficult.  Yet, by then, Mars and Saturn will be moving away from each other and already 3 degrees apart.  Their harms will be greatly reduced by then.  Still, the upcoming Mercury retrograde suggests you deal with any Mars/Saturn destructions -- turning lemons into lemonade -- before May 19.

Post Script May 12

This morning's headline in nearly all media is Quake toll in Nepal reaches 19; nearly 1,000 hurt

The walls falling down in Kathmandu eerily fits the above Heads-up description:  As Saturn is immobile and structure, it is like a castle wall... ...But note its position in Scorpio, a harmful house, which weakens it -- like a castle built upon swampy soil. ...Mars, the planet of war, is like artillery fired at the wall. Since Saturn is already weakened in Scorpio and by being retrograde, Mars' blasts can break the Saturn wall...

Unfortunately, this last prediction, major calamities are not predicted, failed.  Still, perhaps there's a silver lining, an opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade.  Only time will tell.  In the meantime, pay attention today through Friday, as Saturn and Mars draw closer and finally crash together.  Avoid risky situations and conflicts.

Mercury Retrograde -- Afflicted

As explained in the above May 19 entry, Mercury turns retrograde today.  Actually, it reversed course late yesterday.  So, if you got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, blame it on the the mental planet of calculations, communications, skill -- and physically, the skin, nervous systems and respiratory system.  Mercury will will continue this confusing backward motion for it's usual three weeks, turning forward again the evening of June 11.

Mercury retrograde by itself is not a big deal, and recall the other two benefic planets (Venus and Jupiter) remain well disposed until early July.  There's some mud in the karmic stream, through, because Mercury is afflicted during this retrograde by malefics Saturn, Mars and the (hot) Sun.  Below is a World Transit Chart showing these harms -- the blue line is an aspect from Saturn and the Sun/Mars combination highlighted in lavender.

As usual for Mercury retrograde, use care in all communications, especially business dealings.  Due to the triple afflictions to Mercury, all its significations are sensitive, as listed above, calculations, communications, skill -- and physically, the skin, nervous systems and respiratory system.

Severe Weather

This spring's severe weather was predicted in the January 19 VedicLeaks entry.  While the rain has been welcome, there's also been much destruction.  Let's hope mid April to mid May period of violent thunderstorms, tornados, is over.  However, with so much malefic energy now, this is not assured.  Certainly the Texas biker brawl tells us the world is not calm right now -- 9 dead in Texas biker brawl.  And the next section speaks to disasters issuing from the bowels of the earth.  However, again, with benefics Jupiter and Venus strong now, even the most challenging events can have silver linings -- lemons into lemonade.

Earth Crust Events

The earthquakes in Nepal and upticks in earthquake activity in Hawaii  and West Coast U.S. are recent earth crust events.  This Mercury retrograde can stimulate more.  The reason for concern is that Mercury rules Virgo, an earth sign, and is placed in Taurus, the second earth sign.  Saturn rules Capricorn, the third earth sign.  Saturn itself is form and structure and things under the earth.  Recall the above May 17 entry which compared Saturn to a castle wall, and Mars, the planet of war, is like artillery fired at the wall. (Note: I had thought an aspect to Saturn from protective Jupiter would shield against major calamities but was wrong.)

As shown the the chart in the above May 17 entry, Saturn not only aspects Taurus, but Mars (and the Sun) aspects Saturn in Scorpio, the sign of calamity.  With Saturn weak for being retrograde, well, Mercury is similarly weakened for this retrograde -- and thereby both earth signs Virgo and Taurus.  Thus, all three earth signs and Saturn are afflicted, suggesting further earth crust evens over the next few weeks.

This article in Slate, No, a Planetary Alignment on May 28 Won’t Cause an Earthquake, debunks an astrology claim for a major quake May 28, as described in the video embedded in the article.  I'm not subscribing to this fellow's Western Astrology and his psychic insights, but I am saying the planetary alignments can signal earth crust events.  See the January 9, 2010 Short-subject Commentary (which entries are now called VedicLeaks).  A rash of earthquakes and volcanos was happening then, and the Haiti earthquake hit the next day, January 10.  Yet, given all this, May 28 does look sensitive.  Even today may be tough.

I'll do more work on this topic and report soon.

Heads-Up
Retrograde Mercury In The Midst Of Mars & The Sun

Last Tuesday's VedicLeaks entry (above) focused upon the rough Mercury retrograde -- May 18 to June 11.  This results from Mercury, weakened by retrograde motion, being triply afflicted by malefics: the hot Sun, Mars and Saturn.  The news is chocked full of mishaps and calamities, including severe weather.  This last was a worry posed May 19, Let's hope mid April to mid May period of violent thunderstorms, tornadoes, is over.  However, with so much malefic energy now, this is not assured.

Here's a chart for today showing that, halfway through this three week retrograde, Mercury has just passed Mars and is headed for the Sun -- shaded pink box.  Also shown are arrows for Saturn aspecting the Mercury/Mars/Sun combination and for Mars aspecting Saturn.  The latter brings further stress.

Mars is particularly harmful to Mercury for being the planet of destruction.  Mercury being past Mars brings a little relief from violences.  But Mercury now sandwiched between Mars and the Sun is a double karma, a two hit combination -- with Saturn slugging away by aspect (glance) making it a three punch combination.  Mercury will conjoin the Sun May 30, and then things will begin to quiet -- a little.

Because this is all about transits, the planetary dispositions signal globally -- and not just world events. You too are swimming in a turbulent sea.  I repeat here the cautions given May 19, As usual for Mercury retrograde, use care in all communications, especially business dealings. Due to the triple afflictions to Mercury, all its significations are sensitive, as listed above, calculations, communications, skill -- and physically, the skin, nervous systems and respiratory system.

The Moon is a timing indicator signaling major events, for it is the primary planet in Vedic Astrology and the benefits in life.  Notice in the above chart that the Moon is now in Virgo, approaching Rahu, the head-of-the-dragon eclipse point.  Tomorrow morning, the Moon will exactly conjoin Rahu, at which time Mercury will be about 2 degrees from both the Sun and Mars.  This then will be the time of maximum stress

Thus, tomorrow (Thursday) could be a particularly rough day.  And because all the earth signs are affected, the May 19 VedicLeaks entry issued a caution for earth crust events.  (The Mercury retrograde is in Taurus, Mercury rules Virgo and Saturn rules Capricorn.)  Plus, Saturn is the planet of form and structure and things under the earth -- the tectonic plates.  Saturn's location in watery Scorpio signals the possibility of a tsunami.

Because earth crust events result when building pressures between tectonic plates suddenly cause them to slip, it's not possible to predict exactly when, nor where, earth crust events can occur.  After all, which straw did break the camel's back?  Further, the Moon will continue with Rahu for another day.  Let's err on the safe side by suggesting the sensitive interval continues until June 1.  But then, the Moon will conjoin Saturn in Scorpio, it's fallen sign, June 1 to 3.  So, don't let down your guard!

In closing, I repeat the familiar Vedic slogan, Only through turmoil comes change.  Turmoil is an opportunity to overcome challenging karmas --- those that make us stuck, hold us back and bring us harm.  And with the great benefics, Jupiter and Venus, powerfully placed to do good, well, isn't doesn't springtime herald the lemons to lemonade season?

Another Earth Crust Event

12 hurt in Japan quake as life returns to normal  ...a powerful earthquake near remote Japanese islands shook most of the country the previous night, but it was well beneath the earth's surface and did not trigger a tsunamiThe magnitude-7.8 quake struck off the Ogasawara islands Saturday night...

And Another Earthquake!

This today article, 12 hurt in Japan quake as life returns to normal, also announced a second earthquake hit Japan, It was followed by a magnitude-6.4 quake Sunday morning off Japan's Izu islands, which are north of the Ogasawaras.

Like the Japanese volcano, these earth crust events also had a water element.  Note in the above May 27 entry, Saturn's location in watery Scorpio signals the possibility of a tsunami.

I checked Japan's chart and some disruption but certainly not like 2011.
