October 31 It's gratifying to achieve some predictive hits. For example, the October 4 Celestial Wheel noted, in regard to Harriet Meirs' nomination to the Supreme Court on the Solar Eclipse, that, beginning any activity on an eclipse is negative for its success. And, of course, this past Venus Friday brought Scooter Libby's indictment, as predicted the previous Wednesday. Too, Subscribers will recall some prescient hurricane forecasting, as well as identifying the exact date for the July 7 London bombings in the April 2, 2005 In-depth Forecast, #63, A Not So Far Horizon. However impressive successful specific predictions may be, they are, in a very real sense, simply magic tricks and can only be of value when integrated into the larger karmic currents steering the future. Keeping this in mind, the Celestial Wheel prediction for last Friday's indictment of Cheney's chief aid also stated, ...Patrick Fitzgerald's indictments of perhaps all three top administration officials -- Cheney, Libby and Rove -- will be ruinous... Further, last Tuesday's Celestial Wheel stated,
Since identifying the three upcoming planetary retrogrades as the causative factors for a November U.S. government crisis (highlighted by the sensitive dates of November 14 and 30), I've puzzled how this karma would most likely actualize. First, however, there's a puzzlement, or to use Alan Greenspan's chic term, conundrum, for expansive Jupiter will be highly supportive beginning in mid February. The following excerpt from the October 4 Celestial Wheel explains:
Thereby, how can a government crisis in November be following by prosperity and good fortune beginning this winter? October 26 Nobody knows when Special Prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald will release his investigation's Grand Jury findings in the Valerie Plame CIA leak case. His announcement has been expected all week. Further, nobody knows who will be indicted. This is a classic case of how Vedic Astrology's sensitivity to time can be applied. Considering, When: in G.W. Bush's chart, Venus is his planet of friends, his planetary cycles are Saturn, Jupiter/Moon/Venus 10/17 -- 10/30, birthchart Venus is afflicted by transit Saturn, transit Venus is afflicted by birthchart Ketu and Friday is Venus's day of the week. It doesn't take a Vedic nerd to see how the pieces of this puzzle fit. Considering Who: Bush's associates are also his friends, as discussed over three years ago in In-depth Forecast #3, The Bush Presidency - Profile & Prediction (10/24/02). (That's so long ago, I didn't even have a Buddha Belly then.) His great friend, Dick Cheney, was predicted in the October 19 Celestial Wheel to be vulnerable to both heart attack and loss of career. Although I only have the birth day for Scooter Libby (Cheney's Cief of Staff), his Venus is tremendously afflicted by both Saturn and Mars. In Karl Rove's chart, similarly known only to the birth day, his powerful combination of Sun, Venus and Mercury in Scorpio (pivotal to his chart) is afflicted by a bad aspect from violent Mars. Thereby a pretty firm prediction can be made that on Friday, Fitzgerald will indict Cheney, Libby and Rove. Keep in mind that former House Majority Leader, Tom Delay, has already been indicted in the Texas money laundering case. Because his birth time is known, it appears he will be jailed, and this would occur after April 24, 2006. Further, Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist, is being investigated by the SEC for insider stock trading on his family's company in a blind trust. (Maybe these guys can room together in a federal prison?) While again the birth time is not known, I did a quick birth time rectification, and the resulting chart puts vicious Mars in his 12th house of prisons. I mention these other scandals because Bush's chart, and that of the United States, both have very heavy planetary karmas for scandal and downfall. Finally, while Patrick Fitzgerald's indictments of perhaps all three top administration officials -- Cheney, Libby and Rove -- will be ruinous, it's important to keep in mind that Delay and Frist are also under heavy fire. Further, there's the Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff indictment, the investigation of whom continues to widen in scope, implicating other administration officials and members of Congress. Recall that government corruption is a key element in the Gilded Age concept. Regardless, as stated in in yesterday's Celestial Wheel, November is the time for the major consequences to these unfolding scandals. I wouldn't want to pull on the White House turkey wishbone this Thanksgiving -- for I might grab on to Bush's arm, rather than the turkey bone. Let's see what happens -- for how the planetary karmas actually influence is always both known and surprising.
October 25 It was interesting to witness Hurricane Wilma's landfall early Monday morning, about 6 AM ETD, just as the all-important Moon transited into Cancer (the home). Although, again I'm not a weather forecaster, this jives with the October 19 Celestial Wheel,
As that Celestial Wheel included today (Mars Tuesday) in its prediction for damage, watch for reports of either further harms or delayed damage -- like the New Orleans' levees breaking the day after Hurricane Katrina had passed. Time seems to be passing more quickly these days with the continuing turmoil in the world, and in many of our personal lives as well, keeping us busy. This is brought by the continuing, and thereby a building-up, influence of the Mars/Saturn struggle that began July 17 and ends February 5. Because violent Mars typically spends 60 days in a house/sign, this extended 6 /12 month transit through Aries amplifies its aggression. Because restrictive Saturn aspects (glances upon) Mars, the planet of war's energies are bottled up. As pressure increases, Mars' suddenly releases energy -- like an earthquake results when pressures upon colliding tectonic plates forces them to suddenly move. We've seen these energy releases in the ferocious tropical storms, as well as storms brewing inside the White House. The September 6 Celestial Wheel listed six sensitive dates through the fall that attempted to pinpoint these Martian energy releases. They have subsequently been discussed in later forecasting. The October 4 Celestial Wheel (below on this page) included the most recent review of these dates. Currently only two remain ahead of us. It has been difficult to postulate how this Mars/Saturn struggle will actualize, or even culminate, during the next few months, and until it ends February 5. Certainly these two upcoming dates in November are of concern, but they are not definitive in themselves. Looking ahead at other planetary dispositions, I saw that three planets will be retrograde (in apparent backward motion) in November, and that these retrogrades overlap beginning November 22 through month's end. These are: Mars October 2 -- December 9 Saturn November 22 -- April 7 Mercury November 14 -- December 4 Avoiding being a Vedic nerd here (puzzling everyone except for perhaps a few Vedic devotees) I'll summarize by stating that the retrogrades and Mars and Saturn together will cause problems for G.W. Bush and the United States. Bush is particularly vulnerable to career and prestige loss beginning November 3, when he runs Mars in a planetary subcycle. Mercury's retrograde will bring its typical confusion, exacerbating a crisis in the U.S. government. More analysis on this concept will follow in future forecasting. In the October 19 Celestial Wheel, I listed the planets' days of the week and promised some detail on their meanings. Here's some snapshots of what this level of mass consciousness karma indicates: Sunday -- Sun ego, soul, father. Good for religion and paternal activities. Monday -- Moon public, empathy, females, mother. Good for all these significations. Tuesday -- Mars violence, enmity, desire, cutting. Only good for surgery. Wednesday -- Mercury intellect, business. Positive for these significations. Thursday -- Jupiter luck, wealth, higher mind, children. Good for these, especially philosophy Friday -- Venus love, entertainment, art, wealth, daughters. Favorable for all of these. Saturday -- Saturn separation, loss, poverty, humility, service. On good for charity and service. Of course, what's going on in the world, and how the planets operate in your personal chart impact on these day of the week planetary karmas. Still, they are a useful and practical guide for activities. As you Subscribers have noticed, they are used frequently in forecasting events.
October 19 It's fascinating (to this astrologer) how the Lunar Eclipse impacted, while the Moon was simultaneously transiting past fearsome Rahu and Mars, and Mars and Saturn remain locked in destructive combat. These dispositions actualized the prediction that ....charts for the U.S. and Dick Cheney are vulnerable then. The CIA leak investigation nearing completion created hysteria and even appears to be pointing toward the Vice President personally The prediction for Cheney having a heart attack elicits from the Sun being afflicted by Saturn, but the Sun is both the heart and career. Perhaps he will suffer Saturnian loss in both areas? This is, of course, just one, albeit crucial, challenge threatening the Bush Administration. Recall that scandals have been predicted since last summer. The charts below display these dispositions on the Lunar Eclipse day, Monday, October 17. The first (left) shows the eclipsed Moon having past Rahu, conjoining Mars. The second (right) shows Mars aspecting Saturn and Saturn aspecting Mars -- a struggle that began July 17, ends February 5 and which has been the catalyst for recent and ongoing turmoil in nature, politics and the economy. The combination of Mars and Saturn energies indicates war, catastrophe and other types of severe suffering and loss.
However, news reports about Cheney reflect the emotional intensity -- impetuousness, anger, fear... -- of this eclipse. These therefore should not be taken as incontrovertible but rather understood as being the rumors fueled by the Moon. Wait a few days for the news dust to settle. Also, as eclipses block the light of the luminaries (Sun and Moon), they cause the sky to darken, revealing the stars. This is why astronomical Vedic Astrology interprets eclipses as revealing -- in this case Cheney uncloaked for his lying about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and then discrediting Joe Wilson for publicizing the truth and leaking Wilson's wife's secret CIA identity. Keep in mind that eclipse effects begin a week or so before the actual eclipse, continue for several days thereafter and have long term influence. So, expect the emerging Cheney scandal to be actualized over the next few weeks. Hurricane Wilma strengthened to a Category Five hurricane yesterday, just as the Moon had finished being eclipsed and simultaneously conjoined violent Mars. The Washington Post's article today, Wilma Strengthens to Category 5 Hurricane, states, Hurricane Wilma gathered strength at lightning speed today, turning into the most intense Atlantic storm ever recorded. While again, I'm not well versed in weather forecasting, it certainly appears that this remarkable escalation in storm violence can be attributed to the Lunar Eclipse in Aries with Mars on Mars Tuesday (Mars' day of the week). However, the National Weather Service reports Hurricane Wilma has already weakened slightly, although with winds of 160 MPH, it remains a Category 5 storm. This is because late this morning (Wednesday) the Moon exited Aries, getting away from Mars. It's a repeat of Hurricane Rita's behavior, as stated in the September 24 Celestial Wheel, Hurricane Rita blossomed into a huge and powerful storm Tuesday and gathered strength to Category 5 Wednesday and Thursday. With the Moon past Mars on Friday, the wind speeds dropped significantly to a Category 3 level. Although Hurricane Wilma's landfall in the Gulf of Mexico is unknown, two astrological observations can be made. First, Wilma will continue to weaken, as Hurricane Rita did. Second, in following the all-important Moon's (home, the tides....), when it enters Cancer (the home) on October 24, conditions will be replicated for the day Hurricane Katrina broke the New Orleans' levees. The reason for this risk is that Saturn is in Cancer, and Mars aspects Cancer -- as shown in the above chart (right). October 24 is a Monday (Moon's day) and the 25th is a Tuesday (Mars' day). Since the Moon will be in Cancer both days, each risk property destruction. This timing roughly coincides with weather forecasting predictions for landfall over the weekend but specifies damage after the weekend -- Monday and Tuesday. This Lunar Eclipse was predicted to be not dire for the world and personal charts because it was only partial, and this has proven generally true. Clients have reported stomach illness (Moon) and infection (Mars). Yesterday the septic system in my rental home backed up, flooding both bathrooms (the watery Moon with Mars' accidents). These events appear to be temporary in their nature, although certainly traumatic when they occurred. On a somewhat different topic, here are the days of the week owned by each planet*: Sunday -- Sun Monday -- Moon Tuesday -- Mars Wednesday -- Mercury Thursday -- Jupiter Friday -- Venus Saturday -- Saturn (*I'll offer some thoughts on what these days signify in a later Celestial Wheel.) These day describe, not the karma of the planets' astronomical dispositions, but rather mass consciousness. Consider there have been many calendars over the millennia since Vedic Astrology assigned these days to the planets -- so what day was Wednesday in past calendars would not be Wednesday now. Further, our calendar's use of the leap year changes the days of the week by one every four years. Therefore, the only reason Mars Tuesday brings violence, Moon Monday brings cooperation.... is that people believe those to be the actual days of the week. This is provocative, not only in explaining how complex the karmic currents are but also in mass consciousness being influential in changing the world. It gives hope. In this regard, here's another picture of the beautiful Parrot Flower -- a quality we can stimulate in the world through our own actions.
The analogy of our being on a boat carried by the unseen karmic currents is accurate, but we do have some control in plotting and steering our courses ahead.
October 13 Monday's Lunar Eclipse is only partial, indicating less influence than a full Lunar Eclipse over personal charts and world events. It will be especially meek when compared with the powerful October 3 full Solar Eclipse. Yet, as discussed below, the Lunar Eclipse promises some turmoil for the United States.
The Lunar Eclipse will occur at the dividing line between Pisces and Aries, meaning the full Moon will be in Sandhi (dead). As a Sandhi planet is weak for being at the very edge of the house/sign boundary, it is unstable and harmful. The eclipse, then, will tend to have a wrenching quality. The prediction for the upcoming partial lunar eclipse on Monday, October 17 is not dire for the world and personal charts, as most recently stated in the October 4 Celestial Wheel, Not much may happen on the October 17 lunar eclipse, for its a only partial. However, the prediction is negative for America, stating ....charts for the U.S. and Dick Cheney are vulnerable then. The media is certainly chocked full of negative reports on Iraq, the CIA leak scandal the flawed Supreme Court nomination... Keep in mind too that I've predicted Dick Cheney will suffer a heart attack. The September 12 Celestial Wheel stated,
While Cheney did not have cardiac problems August 9, he underwent surgery for arterial aneurysms (ballooning of the arteries) behind both knees September 24, indicating ongoing arterial degradation. Cheney's Vedic chart is particularly sensitive from October 16 to 30, and the lunar eclipse could precipitate heart problems. It is the combination of Bush's poor public approval, Cheney's likely incapacitation and their key staff members (Scooter Libby and Karl Rove) vulnerability in the CIA leak scandal that would precipitate the predicted federal government crisis this fall.
The Celestial Wheel is 120,0000 light years wide, a little larger than own own Milky Way Galaxy. Considering its rotation time must be beyond the pale, the Celestial wheel gives us a long perspective on time and space, encouraging patience. October 11 Over the years, I've questioned and resisted predictions from many esoteric sources that the new millennium signals end times, Armageddon, earth changes.... After arriving in Sedona in June 1997 to finish my studies here at the American Council of Vedic Astrology, I was barraged by prophesies from out-of-town and local prognosticators of future doom, though most held hope too -- e.g. the Space Brotherhood watching over humanity, ascension classes for escaping a destroyed earth. While some of these predictions of doom came from psychics with established track records in accurately predictions for individual clients, even these appeared extremist. Of course, there were also cult leaders, employing fear-inspiring visions to gain control over, and money from, their followers. You are one of the few chosen to join our group, became almost a Sedona slogan. The most outlandish of these folks was a tall blond fellow in Native American regalia at a crystal skull conference who danced around a stage claiming to have addressed the U.N. on coming catastrophes and described how he had built a boat dock on his desert property west of Las Vegas -- certain that California would split from mainland North America, creating oceanfront exactly at the dock! There clearly were more skull cracks in the room than just the ones in the crystal skulls. Yet, I have believed in global warming. The evidence is overwhelming this is real and significant climate change, bringing the surge in natural disasters. These began in the 2004 hurricane season blasting Florida with four major storms and continuing with earthquakes and more hurricanes to the present. Too, plague looms, energy prices escalate, governments are destabilizing... Vedic Astrology uses charts of persons, nations and global transits to identify and describe the hidden karmic currents that drive world events, analogous to the myriad of unseen deep ocean currents determining surface conditions -- what the world experiences. Beginning in the spring of 2004, I investigated three of these major karmic currents that appear to be major steering influences in In-depth Forecasts: #52 The Jupiter/Saturn Conjunction -- A New Twenty Year Era (5/26/04) predicted labor globalization and a breakdown/reorganization of nation states during the double-decade period from 2000 to 2020. #53 Part I The Timeless Mideast Bottleneck -- Ancient Karmas (6/18/04)* predicted a mideast cultural/religious clash over oil. #58a Part I The United States Through Its Planetary Cycles (12/2/04) These karmic currents appear to be actualizing as predicted, excepting that the weakness of the May 28, 2000 chart for the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction was not correctly evaluated, nor weighed. The chart Ascendant (self) is right at the edge of Leo and Virgo at 29:59 degrees, making it Sandhi (dead). Recall that recently turbulence in the world can be attributed to Mars currently being Sandhi, which weakness brings the worst harms. That Jupiter and Saturn, the planets of social evolution that bring these twenty year cycles when they conjoin, are also Sandhi adds to the difficulties during this first twenty year era of the new millennium. While we can hope for a soft landing from high energy prices, storm damage, the Iraq war and the bursting real estate market, this does not seem to be the case.
October 4 The sensitive week of September 27 through October 3 was described in the September 24 Celestial Wheel, To summarize, the week beginning Tuesday, September 27, through Monday, October 3, holds risk for natural disaster in the U.S. and violence abroad, and, concerning the October 3 Solar Eclipse, with the Sun additionally under close aspect from Saturn. This is negative for government. While no further Atlantic hurricanes developed, there was a noticeable spike in disaster/violence over the past few days. Here are some highlights: Forest fires savaged southern California, the Lake George N. Y. tour boat capsized and Pacific hurricane Otis crept up the Baja coast. Oveseas, Bali suffered another serious terrorist attack, and Taiwan was struck simultaneously Saturday by Typhoon Longwang and an earthquake. (Yes, that's the Typhoon's real name.) The last was underreported. See, CNN.com's article, Typhoon, quake leave Taiwan shaken, stirred. Regarding negatives for government: the September 29 Celestial Wheel recited several emerging scandals, with the results the Valerie Plame CIA leak investigation expected soon. During yesterday's Solar Eclipse, Tom Delay was indicted again, Delay Is Indicted on Two New Charges. This Washington Post article described the charges to be surprising, but considering that the sky darkens during a solar eclipse, revealing the stars, new information is to be expected. Also occurring during the eclipse was G.W. Bush nominating Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court yesterday. This reflects not just his tight bonds to friends, but also eclipse insecurity. When the Sun, which represents the ego, is eclipsed, confidence is impaired -- encouraging Bush to fall back to a trusted associate, rather than select a hard-line conservative to satisfy his Christian/neoconservative base. Further, beginning any activity on an eclipse is negative for its success. Looking ahead, Livescience.com reports, New Hurricane Forecast Calls for Busy October, The Washington Post reports, Winter Heating Bills Set To Soar, and the N. Y. Times reports, Slowing Is Seen in Housing Prices in Hot Markets. Subscribers will recall that a bursting of the real estate bubble has been predicted since early April. See the April 2 In-depth Forecast #62 A Not So Far Horizon. Here again are the sensitive dates, first identified in the September 6 Celestial Wheel. and below these is the detail on the remaining 3. The Blue type are the insights from Lisa Long (centerforself.com) cited in the September 19 Celestial Wheel. September 18 -- 22 September 27, 28 October 3 October 17 November 30
4) The fall Lunar Eclipse will be October 17 in Aries, when the Moon will also be conjunct Mars. This indicates violence. Nothing different stands out. 5) I'm also concerned about November 14, when Mars will be retrograding back to an exact aspect with Saturn, and the Moon will be with Mars. Increased blood shed in Iraq. Some U.S. soldiers returning home – dead / alive??? It will make the news.
6) The final sensitive date is November 30 at 3 PM. At that time, the transiting planets will all be antagonistic -- malefics Mars, Saturn and Rahu, will be particularly destructive. Increased hostility toward President Bush – world wide and very hot and heavy in the U.S. Much of the sensitive dates concern is the continuing struggle between Mars and Saturn (July 17, 2005 to February 5, 2006. See the In-depth Forecast, #63 Mars' Summer & Fall Of Discontent). One way of understanding how these malefic planets of anger and responsibility interact is to see them as disciplinarians -- punishing the U.S. for failed policies. Part of the challenge is that Mars is Sandhi (meaning dead) for being at the very edge of Aries. The September 12 Celestial Wheel discussed this Mars weakness in detail, adding the Sun and Jupiter also being Sandhi would cause an personal energetic lull and that, the instability brought by these Sandhi planets ...could stimulate more natural disasters this month. As Mars and Jupiter continue Sandhi, the eclipse weakens the Sun, and the Sun next enters its fallen sign of Libra, expect both low energy in your life and the actualization problems during the last three sensitive dates. Not much may happen on the October 17 lunar eclipse, for its a only partial - but charts for the U.S. and Dick Cheney are vulnerable then. August 5 Celestial Wheel predicted, Dick Cheney has hidden cardiac issues that can actualize August 9. Certainly by Thanksgiving, he will suffer a cardiac attack. A final planetary disposition is worthwhile clarifying. The September 27 Celestial Wheel discussed Jupiter's recent transit out of troublesome Virgo and into Libra, where the planet of luck and fortune fairs much better -- both for personal charts and world affairs -- during the next year ending October 27, 2006. While this is true, Jupiter is Sandhi (less than two degrees) through the first week of this month, and it won't begin to really impact until it reaches the middle of Libra at the end of November. This suggests economic gain this winter, particularly after February 5, when Mars moves into Taurus to stop afflicting Saturn and Jupiter. However, there are major negative to overcome, as the crucial real estate market slides, inflation increases, energy prices crimp budgets, Iraq continues its march toward civil war, and the Bush administration is battered by scandal and the above losses. Jupiter's strength may only pull the country out of a dangerous slide. We'll. see.
