#62 A Not So Far Horizon April 2, 2005
While this unusually difficult Mercury retrograde and combust Venus continue to bring all sorts of weird deaths, end-of-life issues and scandals, it's useful to pause and take a longer look ahead. The January 4 In-depth Forecast, #59 Winter/Spring Shifts Of The Major Planets and its sequel, the February 21 #61 Kama & Kendra -- Desire & Power, predicted instability in January and February, violence and discord during the first weeks of March and the Mercury retrograde communications issues March 20 through April 12. It was not, however, anticipated how difficult this last interval would be. (Note: The last two Celestial Wheels, March 21 and 28, did detail the Mercury retrograde planetary energie.) This Forecast puts these changes into perspective to anticipate what may lie over A Not So Far Horizon as a result of changes this winter and spring.
Charts for the World (transits), the United States and Iraq Independence give a useful overview for their encompassing the major and primary karmas impacting America. These were all previously interpreted in earlier In-depth Forecasts. Below are these three charts. Following each is a 1990 to 2040 timeline showing their planetary cycles (Dasas) in effect. (Note: Because the World Chart can only display planetary transit positions, I've substituted the comparable twenty-year Jupiter/Saturn conjunction cycle for the planetary cycles.) Included are links to these charts' earlier In-depth Forecasts-- if you wish to refresh your recollection.
World The twenty-year Jupiter/Saturn conjunction brings a double-decade cycle signaling a new era, and it's much easier to see its shape at its end than the beginning. (The 1980 -- 2000 era wasn't labeled the Information Age until the mid nineties.) Jupiter and Saturn last came into conjunction May 20, 2004. In that Forecast, I summarized this era stating,
Although the final result in 2020 cannot be known, we've already see this first quarter of 2005 changes redefining nations, governments and alliances. This World Transit Chart (for April 3, 2005) shows Jupiter (wealth and faith) in a double-harmed position in Virgo (the sixth house of enemies), conjunct mystical and dissolving Ketu. Jupiter continues in Virgo until September 28. When restrictive Saturn moves into Cancer on May 25, it will aspect (glance upon) Jupiter, further inhibiting wealth. It's the most basic astrology to predict the global economy will suffer sometime during Jupiter's year-long transit through Virgo ending September 28, 2005. These planetary positions, are paradoxically and intensely religious because of Jupiter signifying religious faith, Ketu being the indicator of enlightenment and worldly Rahu transiting Pisces, which is the twelfth house of final liberation. Rahu brings a maniacal interest in dying -- that which follows and transcends the life. It's natural to conclude religion to be the instrument working against material prosperity and peace, for the latter is intrinsically related to the former. An early signal of religion's impact has been Mercury's retrograde in Pisces conjunct the Sun, Venus and Rahu. This stellium (conjunction of four planets) has brought America's convulsing over end-of-life issues. The Pope's passing today both deepens this focus and extends it throughout the world. Looking ahead, there's a planetary configuration this summer that may trigger an economic downturn. On July 7, Mars will have moved into Pisces to be conjunct Rahu, a combination of excessive religious desire and violence. Opposite Mars/Rahu will be Jupiter/Ketu, the doubled-up religious influence. These planets all aspect each other, and as Mars' projective energy catalyzes events, a religious-inspired catastrophe could occur at that time. Restrictive Saturn's position in the fourth house suggests real estate would be harmed. Note that this configuration is similar to 9-11, when Mars was conjunct Ketu in Sagittarius, and Jupiter was conjunct Rahu in Gemini.
United States The United States is running its ten year Moon cycle, as shown in the timeline. This is a repetition of the Moon's first cycle in the 1880s Gilded Age, highlighted by government corruption, business greed and a theocratic purity crusade. Some label this Fascism, and if that term had existed in the nineteenth century, Mark Twain may have chosen it instead of coining the term, Gilded Age. In the U.S. chart, the Moon rules the eighth house of the occult, and Rahu and Mercury are both placed in the eighth house. Because the U.S. subcycle is Mercury (September 2004 to March 2006), America's mystical and paranoid religious nature is fully activated. This has manifested in G.W. Bush's second term neocon/evangelical alliance of extremists -- the second Gilded Age is in full bloom. However, the difficult planetary dispositions since January have dealt Bush setbacks. Highlights include: resistance to Social Security privatization, the quagmire in Iraq and public outcry over unsustainable budget and trade deficits. For the U.S., the Mercury retrograde stellium is in the fourth house in Pisces. This is a spiritual house symbolizing faith and also the family. The Terri Shiavo case fits into that configuration like a glove. However, this religious paroxysm has proven to be another setback for the Bush extremists, casting more doubt on their neocon economic and evangelical purity policies. The July 7 Mars/Rahu conjunction also occurs in this fourth house, which signifies, not just devotion, but also fixed assets, including real estate. This suggests, as it does with the World Chart, that a violent event at that time would harm real estate. Considering that the U.S. real estate boom has been the primary source of wealth gain for individuals, construction has propped up the economy and property has been an investment haven for foreigners holding too many dollars -- July 7 could signal a real estate crash initiating a recession. An already discredited Bush administration would be unable to counter this reaping of its irresponsible economic policies.
Iraq Independence Iraq is running a Rahu cycle, again as seen below in the timeline. The Mercury retrograde stellium is in the eighth house of mysticism and turmoil. Accordingly, the newly elected representatives haven't been able to form a government. On July 7, Mars/Rahu will come together in Iraq's eighth house to signal a calamity. This could be any number of things -- a major insurgency attack, a full blown civil war and/or the government's fall. There must be a potent religious component to whatever occurs. Oil is, of course, the key to Iraq, and if the country should become a failed state, that could upset the oil markets to stimulate an economic downturn.
Conclusion Much more analysis can (and will) be done on this topic, most especially consideration of the June, 2004 In-depth Forecast series on the Mideast, The Timeless Mideast Bottleneck. I concluded that analysis by stating, In summary, there's a convergence of karmas in these four key Mideast countries occurring now that will transform the Mideast. The question is, will the area further disintegrate into chaos or rescue itself? The time period here is the eighteen month period when Rahu and Ketu transit through Pisces and Virgo -- February 2005 to November 2006. This Forecast suggests that transformation has already begun and may be propelled ahead with a major event July 7. This Forecast has the limited scope of relating previous In-depth Forecasts to current and early July planetary dispositions that could disrupt countries and the world economy. Hope, however, should not be abandoned. The current excessive religious fervor could either shock the U.S. (and the world) into rational policies to defuse antagonisms and correct economic imbalances. Alternatively, religion could continue to add fuel to destructive volatility in July.
