Safavian, the government's top procurement officer, first resigned and was then arrested in connection with the Abramoff investigation. 4) And from the above Washington Post article, the special counsel investigation into whether White House senior adviser Karl Rove or others in the administration broke the law by leaking the name of the CIA's Valerie Plame is nearing a conclusion. The September 6 Celestial Wheel prediction for the sensitive dates September 27 and 28 was for another hurricane, but the September 18 Celestial Wheel was more accurate in stating,

As Mars can exhaust Jupiter's wealth, care in expenses includes avoiding gambling. With Venus still transiting Libra for another week, there is an additional, albeit temporary, influence for expensive enjoyments. As stated, this is good news for most personal charts. For example, Libra rising charts will greatly benefit from Jupiter leaving the twelfth house of loss and entering the first house of the self. This is an annular solar eclipse, meaning the Moon's shadow centers on the Sun but that the Sun's perimeter is visible. The effect is that of a powerful total eclipse. It begins at 12 :35 PM EDT, reaches maximum at 4:10 PM and ends 7:27. The eclipse location is 16:50 Virgo. October 3 to Year End Taking a look ahead into the fall months, after October 2, the U.S. chart changes planetary cycles from cataclysmic Moon/Mercury/Rahu to big spending Moon/Mercury/Jupiter. This cycles set continues until December 9. That aggressive Mars is opposite Jupiter (wealth) signifies massive expenditures, but it also indicates leadership, group action and new goals and plans. It will be interesting to see how this stimulates progressive leaders. Since G.W. Bush will be changing planetary cycles from Saturn/Jupiter/Moon to Saturn/Jupiter/Mars on November 3 (continuing until December 27), he would naturally be the over-spending instrument and will be similarly motivated for leadership. Mars As Mars figures prominently in the planetary karmas now, it is helpful to understanding its energies by viewing it celestially. NASA reports in Mars Doubles in Brightness, as the Earth approaches Mars it continuously brightens -- until October 30, when the earth passes Mars. Further, Mars is more easily viewed, since it is high in the eastern sky. One comment about the Mars and Saturn struggle (from July 17 to February 5) is that it stimulates impatience and frustration. I've personally noticed myself speeding through news articles, not wanting to waste time, and deleting without reading e-mails from Truthout, Moveon.org and others. Further, I've been stalled since late July in an In-depth Forecast on the historical roles of Rahu and Ketu in shaping civilizations. So, instead, I've written Celestial Wheels exclusively. The suggestion here is to take time out of relax and unwind and be conscious of the inclination to push ahead too hard.
September 19 The September 12 Celestial Wheel discussed and predicted a lull in personal energy due to the Sun (power) changing signs September 16 and Mars (energy) and Jupiter (expansion and optimism) becoming Sandhi (dead) as they move to the edge of the signs they occupy. While the Sun has regained strength, it seems the Mars and Jupiter Sandhi are compromising personal drive and optimism. This is an ongoing situation until early October. September 15 Today's Washington Post has a provocative article on one of Hurricane Katrina's major harms, Winter Heating Bills Set To Soar. The headline, High Fuel Prices, Low Temperatures Chill the Forecast, summarizes the situation.
Second, Virgo is the sixth sign of the natural zodiac, signifying enemies and competitors. This position makes Mercury a debater, absolutely convinced he/she owns the truth. Taking these influences together, expect the next few weeks to be fraught with increasing dissension, both in the public and private sectors, as the totality of Hurricane Katrina's harms become known and analyzed. September 12 During the last couple of days, personal energy levels appear to have sunk, likely deflated by the stress we all feel from Hurricane Katrina. Too, there's uncertainty, fueled, not just by media reports, but also because gasoline prices seem now to be stuck about $3.00 per gallon, yesterday was the 9-11 anniversary, now two Supreme Court vacancies will be filled, and whatever happened to our two Mideast wars? These issues have certainly been driving down G.W. Bush's approval ratings, and his imbalance of Kama (desire) over Karma (power) continue to block his ability to deal with increasing domestic and international challenges. This great salesman can't spin (lie) his way out of the New Orleans horrors, and he can't suppress them as has been done in Iraq. Too, his management shortfalls are being revealed in the scandal of emergency response there, reinforced by continued reports of destruction, suffering and death. The planets themselves are as yet unchanged in strength. Later in the week, however, some will begin to weaken -- notably, the Sun (energy, confidence, power) will be changing signs, and this transition includes a temporary lull in solar power. Further, as the Sun moves from Leo, where it is strong, into Virgo, the Sun will be weakened by both being conjunct Ketu and aspected by Saturn.
When planets become Sandhi, they contrastingly increase their ability to do harm. As Mars is dogs, the analogy here is when your pet dog is sick or injured, he is likely to snap or bite. Given this energetic lull, it's best to pace yourself in your daily activities and also use care in launching new projects. There is also some sensitivity to muscles, eyesight, the head and the cardiac system. As Virgo is the sixth house of illness, the Sun's transit there for the next month suggests disease, and New Orleans is the natural location. However, Asian Bird Flu is a continuing threat off the radar screen in the U.S. but of worry in Europe and the Far East. September 6 This morning, Venus has thankfully moved out of its weak fallen sign of Virgo into Libra, a sign it owns, giving Venus strength. However, in Libra, Venus is aspected by Mars. This means that intense Venus/Virgo feelings of sadness and loss stimulated by Hurricane Katrina are replaced by Venus/Libra passion in all things.
As everyone is affected by high and rising gasoline and natural gas prices, and as hurricane damage harms the national economy more than yet understood, public dissatisfaction with the Bush Administration is broadened and deepened. Accusations of mismanagement have already begun -- actually lack of management by a President who just took another long vacation at his ranch. Keep in mind that Mars in Aries and Saturn in Cancer continue their battling as they aspect each other particularly viscously. There is a beautiful and uplifting celestial event this evening -- that of the new crescent Moon conjoining bright Jupiter and Venus. This has been occurring monthly, the last date being August 9.
September 3
As stated in the August 22 Celestial Wheel, some relief is thankfully upcoming. On September 6, Venus transits out of the Virgo war zone into Libra -- a sign it rules. On September 28, Jupiter follows Venus into Libra. These changes are the light at the end of a gloomy summer tunnel for us personally and favorable too for world affairs. Still, these next few days until September 6 are difficult, for Venus is now approaching its maximum point of debilitation at 27 degrees Virgo, and tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon, the emotional Moon transits into Virgo. As Venus is luxuries, beauty and contentment, when it is debilitated, the opposite occurs -- things are cheap and unattractive and feelings sour. So, in finishing up furnishing and equipping my new rental home through garage and estate sales, all I found today was junk at garage sales. And even when I scored two lovely ceramic lamps, they smashed when I had to hit the car brakes to avoid an accident. I didn't see the New Orleans hurricane disaster, just as the Indian Ocean tsunami was not anticipated. Predicting severe weather and other natural disasters is beyond my skill, although the technique exists. A group of East Indians predicted the tsunami - see the December 29, 2004 Celestial Wheel. Yet, I was not far off in predicting calamity. As stated in the August 8 Celestial Wheel, It appears that tomorrow and Wednesday (August 9 & 10) may bring a destructive world event(s) triggering this economic downturn -- which would actualize in the real estate bubble bursting. Given the ongoing unhappiness brought by the Jupiter and Venus adverse transit placements, the subjective reality of Hurricane Katrina's material and human costs are even more potent. Even though the stock markets dipped only mildly this week, Hurricane Katrina's combined objective and subjective reality strikes have shocked the public out of its carefully coiffed optimism. The real estate bubble, already leaking since July 21 (when Mars and Saturn began their destructive dance), must surely burst now. Thursday, I drove to neighboring Cottonwood on the new four lane, 65 MPH highway at my usual docile 55 MPH. Instead of being pressed and passed by roaring SUV's and gargantuan pickup trucks, the gas guzzlers had all slowed to my speed. Today, I met two lady Realtors at a garage sale, and instead of the usual ebullience and confidence, because Sedona is different, they were both wary, even fearful of the market.
That Forecast stated, ...the nature of the violent event is as yet unknown, but some likely culprits are oil, the dollar, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, scandal and terrorism. As difficult as the world has become, recall that Venus gets out of harmful Virgo September 6, and Jupiter follows September 28. Our subjective realities will greatly benefit. Yet, Hurricane Katrina harms cannot be undone -- the snowball is rolling down the mountain getting larger and can't be rolled back up.
