Yes, there remains a high level of turbulence in world affairs and the weather -- for the ongoing conjunctions of malefics Mars and Saturn in terrible Scorpio -- stress.  Plus, Jupiter is hammered by Rahu in Leo, the sign of government, where he also receives a punitive aspect from Saturn -- conflict. Another key word for serpent Rahu's insatiable cravings upon wise Jupiter is deception.  (Also keep in mind that Jupiter has been weakly retrograde since early January, preventing him from protecting himself -- like a boxer dropping his gloves.).

This last has certainly been seen in the U.S. presidential campaigns -- mostly from on the Republican side but certainly too, some Democrats.

I recite these two difficult conjunctions because they are highly impactive, durable and increasing -- starting early this winter and continuing through the late summer.  And remember, the longer a planetary disposition continues, the more potent it becomes.

So, don't forget these strains -- stress, conflict and deception -- will continue to shape world circumstances and events, as well as our own personal experiences.  And, one more time, for the U.S. chart, this is the beginning of the 18 year Rahu Dasa, when the serpent brings rejection and fear of authority to regain shared democratic values in a Second Progressive Age.  For yourself, these karmas are reshaping your life too, and they can thereby enable growth if you can get out of your own way.

As stated in the April 27 entry, Into Spring!, we should take advantage the opportunity to advance ourselves.

Here are the specifics.  Malefics Saturn and Mars are retrograde now, which weakens their ability to do harm.  And, as of today, Jupiter, the great benefic, ended his four month retrograde to turn forward, regaining his ability to help, protect and elevate consciousness.  As for this last, remember, Jupiter is the planet of the higher mind -- spiritual knowledge, religion, philosophy, morality, ethics and law. With Jupiter also active in the U.S. chart's Dasas (planetary cycles) now, wisdom and good judgment will begin to seep into the fabric of public consciousness.  May will end being a bad month, for example, for Donald Trump and perhaps a better one for Hillary Clinton as she continues to shift left -- to populism.

Yes, we're still troubled by a mischievous Mercury retrograde -- April 28 to May 22 -- and right now is the most difficult for Mercury passing over the face of the Sun.  As symbolizing both light and heat, the Sun burns planets, especially when they are very close, and most assuredly when planets astronomically cross the Sun's disk.  This last is unusual because nearly all planetary transits across other planets are either above or below the plane of the solar system.   As Vedic Astrology is an astronomically based astrology, this total combustion of Mercury is meaningful.  The mind is literally blinded, just as your sight would be if you stared as the Sun.  Read this article from Earth Sky to understand the astronomy, Transit of Mercury on May 9, 2016.

Don't let this challenge to Mercury's intellect and nervous system get you down, though!  Yes, communications are flawed, mistakes and omissions happen and tasks are arduous.  Just deal with these issues and keep your focus on this season of growth.  And as most seeds may sprout but only a few planets grow, appreciate those that do and nurture them

Astronomical Brilliance
with
Astrological Intensity

Everyone should know from the media there's a blue moon tonight, and Mars is at its brightest. EarthSky.org Blue Moon and red Mars on May 21

Astronomically, there's brilliant sky watching in the planets putting on a terrific light show.  Astrologically, however, this is very, very intense -- brilliant, yes, but blinding.

This image from Spaceweather.com shows the both the astronomy and the astrology.  Note that, as for the astronomy, because the Moon is full, its light will wash out neighboring planets and stars.  So, you may have to look closely to see bright red Mars on one side of the Moon and a paler yellow Saturn on the other.  Of course, Mars is at its brightest because it is so close to the earth now.

Astrologically, the three-planet cluster of the Moon, Mars and Saturn are in Scorpio, the most difficult, even treacherous sign of the zodiac.  All planets suffer in Scorpio.  Although the Moon is full, which protects this planet of the emotions and the perceptional mind, Scorpio, being the Moon's fallen (weakest) sign, is naturally a negative.  Being braced between the two great malefics -- Saturn and Mars -- is like being strong-armed by two thugs -- and since this is Scorpio -- the destination is decidedly unpleasant.

So, enjoy the sky show, but keep your head down in your personal lives, as well as reactions to world events.

Fortunately, very fortunately, Jupiter, the great benefic, is forward now, his strength for good, wisdom and optimism, restored.  Too, and this is even more valuable, Mercury ends its mischievous retrograde tomorrow.  Mental clarity can begin to replace confusion.  Overly sensitive nervous systems will calm.

As Jupiter is the higher mind, and Mercury the lower mind, their being better disposed will allow us to regain understanding of our own situations, as well as world affairs.  Within a week, personal knots will be untangled, and we'll have been able to get our arms around a world filled with chaos.

It would seem, btw, that Bernie Sanders could triumph over Hillary Clinton and then gain the presidency. This results from these and upcoming planetary turbulences, as well as Rahu Dasa (planetary cycle) in the U.S. chart.  With Rahu, the serpent, running the show now, anything can happen -- especially the unexpected.

Catching Up With Predictions

The signal planetary karmas this winter, and continuing through the summer, are the conjunctions of Mars/Saturn and Rahu/Jupiter.  Read the below excerpt from the March 14 VedicLeaks entry for a refresher.

Consider events this winter and spring that fit into these areas.  Certainly, the South and East U.S. have been wracked by watery storms.  Tropical storm Bonnie hit the Carolina's this past weekend.  The April 27 VedicLeaks entry entry stated,

Coming into the summer, we can anticipate further, and even more damaging, earth crust events after Mars ends its retrograde June 30 and/or when Saturn ends its retrograde August 12.  Then, earth sign rulers Mercury and Venus will be both afflicted in Cancer and later Leo.  Along with this, because Mars symbolizes storms, expect a busy and destructive hurricane season this summer.

Zika virus is growing worse.  Vermin shark attacks have popped up.  Religion has been a major element of the presidential campaigns here in the U.S., and the Mideast unrest is all about the Sunni/Shiite conflict.

The September 16 VedicLeaks entry was definitive about Trump's presidential prospects.

(Note: Saturn transiting the houses around the Moon is called Sadi Sati, and this planet of delay and suffering on the primary planet in Vedic Astrology transforms the life by Saturnian struggles and losses. Looking at this another way, as Saturn is the ultimate symbol of reality, when it crosses the benefits-in-life Moon, Saturn penetrates deeply and harshly into the attacking the ego and other illusions.)

The February 29 VedicLeaks entry stated, ...Hillary Clinton's chart is currently very weak.  Like Trump, she could suffer a major setback.  As everyone knows, Hillary continues to struggle, even as she has the delegates needed to win the nomination.

The March 8 VedicLeaks entry explained that both Trump and Clinton are First Baby-Boomers, and Mitt Romney too.  The suggestion is that this power in their charts would make them endure in the presidential race, which they both have. And even Romney is working on a third party run.
