Mars & Saturn

The last previous Celestial Wheel entry was April 26 -- nearly two weeks ago.  There's been so much Mars-caused destruction this astrologer caught a non-virus infection and his housemate suffered a serious bicycle accident.  Please pardon the delay i ncomposing new forecasting.

These personal travails personalize this spring's Mars energy, which effects, actually envelopes, everything.  As the April 26 More On Mars In Gemini And Cancer stated, ...we must expect major weather events that are mirrored in societal changes and ... This year promises to bring more extreme weather and societal shifts.

Nobody is exempt from this Mars energy, which is the active agent now in signaling discords ending the Second Gilded Age and then staggering and stumbling into the Second Progressive Age. These manifold changes in nearly all parts of society are obviously and naturally disorienting -- especially since the professional media and government are honestly and sincerely predicting mass vaccinations will bring a return to normal society.  Unfortunately, or really fortunately, normal society is the past, with all its faults and basic unfairnesses.  Do we really want a return to that?  Perhaps we should anticipate a new normal arising from the ashes of the corrupted old.

Below are excepts from the most recent two entries. These predictions have been actualized and will be more fully experienced during the next two and a half months ending July 20. Compare these to the news and your own experiences.

April 17 Mars Rampaging -- Again

Mars is in Gemini April 13 to June 1
When he soon crosses Jupiter and Venus, Mars will stir up issues of law, fairness, compassion, wealth and women's rights.

In this Vata (air) sign, Mars brings windy storms, especially tornadoes.  There's some kapha (water) energy as well for Jupiter and Venus being kapha planets.  Expect, then, some heavy rains and flooding with these tornado inducing storms.   (The April 26 entry added "Not mentioned previously is fires caused by Mars being fiery.")

Mars is in Cancer June 1 to July 20
The eighth is the terrible house of hidden things, which indicates more scandals surfacing from its dark watery depths.  Also, the eighth in the U.S. chart has Mercury (intellect) with frightening head-of-the-dragon Rahu (foreign and dark skinned).  It is this combination that makes people feel they are under attack.  As the eighth is also the occult and mysticism, America's mystical paranoia issues from Cancer.  That's like lighting a firecracker when Mars passes through this sign.

Afflicting Mercury, the respiratory system first, infectious Mars will stimulate the virus early on. Mars hitting toxic Rahu next will also feed the virus, as well as bringing other violences.
As for weather, when in that Kapha (water) sign, Mars stimulates hurricanes.  This is before peak tropical storm season.

April 26 More On Mars In Gemini And Cancer

1. The climate is changing*, and during tumultuous Rahu Dasa in the U.S. chart (2015-2033), we must expect major weather events that are mirrored in societal changes.

2. This year promises to bring more extreme weather and societal shifts. Coming at the end of the Trump era -- in which he destroys existing political structures and then blows himself up -- we can expect, and have already seen, early progress during Biden's administration.

3. It would seem that the hard right is fighting its hardest to hold back the tides of change, but this racial extremism, what the Celestial Wheel calls mystical paranoia, burns itself out.  These next few months, when Trump pushes hard again against loss, he will only cause disruption and infighting.  And the white racists in desperation mounting further attacks upon democracy, can signal the end of this horrific upwelling of hate, fear and racism -- HFR.

Let's see what happens.

(*It's now wildly understood and accepted the earth's temperature has risen on two degrees Fahrenheit in the last hundred years. Some, however, believe this is natural, normal and even has truly no major impact.  Consider, however, that human body temperature is about ninety eight degrees, and boosting that by two degrees to one hundred is a low grade fever usually resulting from infection -- virus, bacterial...), sometimes heat.  Anyone feels sick with a low grade fever.  The earth, then, has a heat infection causing physical harms, and as it continues and worsens, the effects are debilitating.  Tell others about this analogy when they claim climate change -- warming -- is not of huge importance to the entire globe.)

And don't forget the spring/summer eclipse season is nearing, as explained in the April 26 More On Mars In Gemini And Cancer,

This year Mars transits airy Gemini April 13 to June1 and then Mars transits watery Cancer June 1 to July 20.

Also, upcoming is a total eclipse of the Moon May 26 at 11:17 Scorpio and then an annular eclipse of the Sun June 10 at 25:38 Taurus.*  Both will be visible in the U.S.  As eclipses destabilize, these must aggravate Mars' damages in Gemini and Cancer.

(* Remember these don't hit the U.S. chart, but the solar eclipse hits Trump's Rahu and Sun hard -- finishing defanging him.)

Note that eclipse effects begin about two weeks before the astronomical event and continue for at least a week following.  Further, eclipses don't just destabilize as the all-important luminaries are blocked.  In this blockage, the skies darken, revealing the stars. With Mars bringing up secrets in the U.S. chart's eighth house of Cancer during this eclipse season, there's another dirty tango, this time of previously hidden malicious information.

(This is such a great image.  It even looks like Jared and Ivanka!)

With Trump associates already under legal siege, it seems certain their illegal actions will be announced soon, and along with that indictments.  Trump himself could be a target, but that analysis will be done in an upcoming Celestial Wheel entry.

But, there's more -- a triple dirty tango! Pleasant little gathering, isn't it?

The title of this entry is Mars & Saturn.  With Mars blasting away and the eclipse season nearing, we have a dirty tango for two. Saturn, the great malefic, however, also comes to the dance, making this spring/summer a dirty tango for three.

This results from the aspects (glances) transit Mars and Saturn are making.  All planets throw aspects directly across the zodiac. Mars and Saturn (Jupiter too) also throw special aspects, and the applicable ones are shown with arrows in the below chart for May 7.

May 7, 2021

This chart, of course, shows Mars in Gemini -- April 13 to June 1.  You can see he's shooting an aspect to Saturn, which is very, very tough.  Saturn in Capricorn is the U.S. chart's second house of domestic harmony and truth.  Saturn is stolid -- slow, unyielding and degrading.  Mars is the opposite -- hot, fast and explosive.  Mars irritates inactive Saturn into action, which is always destructive.  There's also a misuse of Saturn's power (government officials) from this aggressive and selfish Mars aspect.  That's exactly what has been happening in the U.S. political system, and it only becomes more extreme and insane as time passes.  There are other harmful aspects here, but for now, this is the most potent.

Now, what happens when Mars transits into Cancer -- June 1 to July 20?  Here's the transit chart for June 2.  Notice that Mars continues to aspect Saturn, and in turn, Saturn aspects Mars?  Mars on Saturn magnifies Saturn's destructions by pushing the great malefic ahead.  Slow Saturn, on the other hand, hold's rash Mars back, which serves to build up pressure until Mars erupts in explosive energy.

This combination is always difficult, for it brings stresses that are both formidable and resistant to control.  In the current situation, U.S. second house domestic discord and lying are accompanied by unsavory eighth house scandals and calamities.  Beyond these societal issues, hurricanes are called for.

June 2, 2021

There are other challenging transits not discussed here.  You can see one in Mercury, with the R indicating retrograde.  Confusions. There's another in the three inner planets -- the Sun, Mercury and Venus -- crossing Rahu.  Unanticipated and uncontrollable serpent strikes.

There's yet another unseen without the U.S. chart, which is reposted here from the March 17 More Dirty Tangoing.  Overlay the above transit chart for June 2 on the U.S. chart to see that transit Saturn is sitting on birth chart Ketu and transit Mars crosses birth chart Mercury and Rahu. Plus, for each, the other malefic throws an aspect roiling up the karmic seas even more.

U.S. Chart

This is a lot of information, of course.  Detailing it and then integrating the planetary karmas is so complex it begs for a supercomputer.  Let's just say here that until Mars exits Cancer July 20, it's going to be a bumpy ride.  And with that, a new normal will have begun to emerge.  It's best then to dump the old baggage for being wrecked and no longer useful and start rising again from the ashes.

Instabilities Incoming

Recent Celestial Wheel entries have focused upon Mars transiting Gemini and Cancer. These are:

April 17  Mars Rampaging -- Again

April 26  More On Mars In Gemini And Cancer

May 7  Mars & Saturn

This forecasting is about a truly tumultuous spring/summer -- Mars is in Gemini April 13 to June 1 and Mars is in Cancer June 1 to July 20. It's worthwhile taking another look at these emerging and upcoming planetary karmas stirred up by raging Mars.

Keep in mind that because only through turmoil comes change, disruptions do herald opportunity to move further into the Second Progressive Age.  Consider, for example, the surprisingly tight labor market is forcing employers to raise wages, a key component of this new era to restoring shared democratic values.

Also remember, there are nine planets, and each makes its own contribution.  Significantly now is that Jupiter, the great benefic, is strong again.  The April 8 Jupiter Free At Last, explained about Jupiter's recent weakness

Due to retrograde motion, Jupiter has been into, out of and back into Makara (Capricorn) from late March 2020 to mid November 2020.  Since then, Jupiter has been stuck in Capricorn to finally escape two days ago -- April 6.  If you feel a tinge of optimism seeping into your consciousness, this is Jupiter shining again.

It's interesting Jupiter has been rendered useless in Makara since last March (2000), just as the virus was taking hold and beginning to spread into a pandemic.

...he was not able to counter the virus for this one year period.  But he can now use his great beneficence to enable beating the disease now because of the successful vaccine program.  This is somewhat a conjecture, rather than pure Vedic Astrology, but it makes intuitive sense.

This prognostication has come true in spades.  The vaccination process, at least in the U.S. has been remarkably successful.  And although red states lag behind, the continued and increasing disparity with healthier blue states must spur the former into this easy and free remedy.  This also dramatically demonstrates one planet -- Jupiter -- can bring tremendous good to offset turmoil now and empower positives coming out of that turmoil.

The title of this entry, Instabilities Coming -- addresses transiting planets' being weakened by eclipses and retrogrades that magnify the disruptions Mars is bringing.  That is, while Mars will continue his attacks until about July 20, planets losing their oomph weakens the entire solar system structure.  They are thereby less capable of resisting Mars harms.  Destructions can become cataclysmic.

Eclipses
As stated several times in the past, there's a total lunar eclipse coming May 26 at 11:17 Scorpio and then an annular eclipse of the Sun June 10 at 25:38 Taurus.  Annular, in which the Moon is too far from the earth to completely block the Sun, leaves a ring of fire around the Moon.  However, annular is not partial, for the Moon is centered directly upon the Sun's disk.  Thus, it has the effect of a total eclipse.

This is unusual, at least astronomically, because both eclipses are total, and that totality makes them much more potent.  Think of this like a double shot of whisky.  For a partial eclipse of the Moon, for example, it is not only difficult to see ithe shading but also eclise effects can pass unnoticed.  But a total lunar eclipse, blocking the light, darkening the skies and allowing the stars to shine, is obviously potent for those qualities.  It's the blocking nature of eclipses that weaken the Sun and Moon, the luminaries that light the earth directly and by reflection. Without them, the earth wouldn't exist beyond being a cold icy ball. As eclipse effects begin about two weeks before the astronomical event, the eclipse season is already here.  Already discussed is the June 10 Solar eclipse hitting Trump's Rahu and Sun hard -- finishing defanging him.

Retrogrades

We have two upcoming retrogrades.  The first is slow Saturn, which has already been reducing speed for several days and turns retrograde in just two days -- May 23.  As the planet of organization, form and structure, this recent weakening can be the reason the Chinese skyscraper wobbled for no apparent reason.  Look for other structural issues in the earth's crust -- earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes -- as this direction shift continues.  Also look for storms to be stronger -- unbound from restriction.   Saturn's retrogrades are long.  This one lasts until October 11.  Recall transit Saturn is close of the U.S. chart's Ketu and opposite the U.S. Rahu.  The former further dissolves Saturn's form and structure and the latter drives Rahu hard -- relentless and victimizing energy. The former is in the second house of domestic harmony, suggesting increasing insurrectionist activity.  The latter is the eighth house of death and destruction, indicating major calamities.  Due to this retrograde, Saturn will cross the Rahu/Ketu axis twice -- Mid July and then at year's end.

The second is Mercury going into one of its thrice annual three week retrogrades.  This begins May 30 and ends June 22.  Mercury retrograde's usual impacts of confusions, miscommunications, heightened nervous tension.... will naturally ensue.

Whatever happens in Washington DC and in politics will be variable with vacillating and uncertain outcomes.  It seems unlikely though, with all the challenging and major issues, that government will not be able to advance needed policies.

Again, as stated previously, there's a lot going on with the planetary transits -- so much truly that its nigh impossible to sort out the karmas to arrive at predictions.  This entry describes some new ones, but there's more.

Stay tuned.

Total Lunar Eclipse Tomorrow

Tomorrow during the night is the first total eclipse of two.  This total lunar eclipse will be followed by a total solar eclipse June 10. Remember that because these are both total eclipses, they are much more impactive than partial ones, which only dim the Sun and Moon and also only partially reveal the stars in darkened skies.  These total eclipses fully pull back the curtain concealing the cosmic stage.

While astrological eclipse effects have already begun, the astronomical event is in a very real way a kick-off. The celestial karmic ball will be in the air, and the players below will be jousting around and piling on, like a rugby scrum.  This may seem to be an exaggeration, but considering all the havoc Mars, the planet of violence and sports, is causing, the analogy perhaps it will prove more apt than it seems here.

As explained in the (above) May 21 Instabilities Coming, tomorrow's lunar eclipse is the second of four transiting planets' being weakened by eclipses and retrogrades that magnify the disruptions Mars is bringing in quick succession -- two eclipses two retrogrades. (eclipses are, after all, transits, where the planets are in today's skies.)

Saturn retrograde  May 23 -- October 11
Lunar eclipse  May 26
Mercury retrograde  May 30 -- June 22
Solar eclipse  June 10

Again, the lunar eclipse location will be 11:17 Scorpio.  This dangerous and dark sign of secrets will certainly magnify the eclipse effects by bringing up nasty stuff from its dark and hidden depths, including even more scandals.

The maximum eclipse will be near dawn EDT at 7:14.  Although whether the event is visible does not greatly magnify its impact, there must be a psychological boost to the Moon being eclipsed.  That it's a supermoon -- closest to the earth -- also adds drama. Finally, and while the totality is a short fifteen minutes, EarthSky.org explains the moon takes a little over three hours to pass through the Earth’s dark shadow.  So there's plenty of time to go outside and catch at least a glimpse of this blood red eclipsed Moon,

The May 26 (total) eclipse is visible from western North America, southern and far-western South America, the Pacific Ocean, New Zealand, Australia and southeast Asia.

From the Americas, this eclipse takes place in the early morning hours before sunrise May 26. From the world’s Eastern Hemisphere (New Zealand, Australia and southeast Asia), the eclipse happens in the evening hours after sunset May 26.

EarthSky.org's eclipse article, Total eclipse of 2021’s closest supermoon on May 26, includes this cool drawing showing where the Moon will be totally eclipsed and then gradually less blocked.  So, while California will witness the entire Moon being swallowed up in earth's opaque umbra, moving east, the less dense penumbra still partially shadow the Moon in a decreasing manner.  The shadowing, although faint, will be visible.

Here, then, are the times for the several U.S. timezones,

As eclipses block, they reduce life force, strength, confidence, presence, influence, mental focus... and are thereby a time for quiet and contemplation.  As eclipses reveal, there's another reason to be quiet and open to receive and understand information.  It has been said in India that because the Moon is fertility, expecting mothers should stay quietly inside during an eclipse to prevent miscarriages.

Again, as with all eclipses, if this one is within a few degrees of a planet in a birth chart, that planet will be eclipsed -- blocked out. Recall this issue is came up for Trump in the December 14, 2020 total solar eclipse in late Scorpio. The November 28. 2020 Eclipse Season stated,

...the December 14 total solar eclipse at 29 degrees Scorpio (28:59 precisely) hits Trump's chart doubly.  ...the eclipse hits his 28:05 Scorpio Moon within a degree and also the opposite Sun at 29:49 Taurus, again within a degree.  Remember, any less than two degrees is a bullseye.

Keeping in mind that solar eclipse effects begin soon and continue for the next six months, it looks like this eclipse will finish defanging Trump.  Still, the raging and fearful bull can alternatively run away or grievously attack.

While tomorrow's lunar eclipse doesn't hit any planets in Trump's chart, the June 10 total solar eclipse will.  Similar to the December 14, 2020 total solar eclipse, that eclipse at 25:38 Taurus is close to Trump's Taurus Rahu at 27:41, Taurus Sun at 29:29 and opposite his Scorpio Moon at 28:05.  Looks like that rugby scrum must pile on him.

Mercury Retrograde & Paranoia Peaking

The (above) May 25 Total Lunar Eclipse Tomorrow explained that tomorrow's lunar eclipse is the second of four transiting planets' being weakened by eclipses and retrogrades that magnify the disruptions Mars is bringing in quick succession -- two eclipses two retrogrades.  (eclipses are, after all, transits, where the planets are in today's skies.)

Saturn retrograde May 23 -- October 11
Lunar eclipse May 26
Mercury retrograde May 30 -- June 22
Solar eclipse June 10

With Mercury turning retrograde yesterday, we're through the first three and now just await the June 10 penumbral solar eclipse. This is a continuing situation -- like driving on a long stretch of icy road in Minnesota in January.  Best to shift to a lower gear, put on tire chains and be ready for more rough going.  Here are the durations for these transits.

Saturn remains retrograde until October 11
The lunar eclipse will continue to shadow the heavens for some weeks
Mercury retrograde will end June 22
The solar eclipse won't begin to wind down until later in June

Again watching aggressive Mars, he'll transit from Gemini attack Cancer with a roar late June 1 -- leaving Cancer July 20.  Yes, that's tomorrow, Tuesday, which also is Mars' day of the week.  Further, impatient Mars acts quickly, bringing violent karma immediately upon shifting into a new sign.

So, given just this potently destructive Mars and the instability of the four unstable transits, expect some extreme and uncontrolled karma to hit the fan this week.

Beyond these two factors, we need to pay attention to Mercury retrograding back into Taurus from the edge of Gemini.  There, Mercury will encounter Rahu again, and the dragon stimulates Mercury's to feel under attack.  It's nervous system and changeable mental status are easily disrupted, and because Rahu is both the dragon and dark skinned foreigners, America's mystical paranoia will be fired up again.  Below is a transit chart for June 3 showing Mercury having just backed up into Taurus.  Mercury won't get too close to Rahu, but at maximum retrograde at 22 degrees, it will still be close at just six degrees.  Think of this like putting your hand into the tiger cage at the zoo -- even when the tiger is not close, it's just not a good idea.

June 3, 2021

Notice Mars now in Cancer is directly across Saturn, the great Malefic, in Capricorn.  Saturn owns Capricorn, making him strong there.  Mars is fallen in Cancer but still potent because this is the Moon's sign -- and Mars throws an aspect to Capricorn, where he is exalted -- strongest.  And, of course, Saturn in turn aspects Mars. (In fact, they both also aspect Libra, which just makes the clash more challenging.)

This situation was shown in the transit chart for June 2 in the (above) May 7 Mars & Saturn.  With the two worst malefics aspecting each other, the destructive power of each is amplified.  Hasty Mars pushes slow Saturn to act, and slow Saturn bottles up Mars' violences until they explode.

June 2, 2021

Because transits are global in nature, we must expect a lot of turbulence in the world.  And Mercury retrograde approaching Rahu must exaggerate and distort mental responses.

But this isn't all.  When we add in charts for the U.S. and Trump, we find very serious harms.  Here are both,

US Chart

Trump

Look at the U.S. Cancer, where transit Mars will be in just a day.  There is already one mystical paranoia Mercury/Rahu combination that birth chart.  So, the the current Mercury retrograde to transit Rahu doubles up this karma.  Plus, of course, Mars ignites that combination like a Fourth Of July skyrocket.  This is a double inflammatory karma for America's Trump/Q Anon psychosis.  Mars will hit the U.S. Mercury June 6 and then the U.S. Rahu toward the end of June.  That's a combination of unanticipated and uncontrollable extreme violence.

Hurricanes, of course, are likely, as will be other disasters. Another insurrection is possible but certainly with the ringleaders arrested, this seems unlikely.  A lone madman, or small group, however, could very well launch a major attack -- like 9-11.  There could be more than one such attack.  Although the astrology doesn't point specifically to this last, it feels correct.

As for Trump, transit Mars strikes his dishonorable Saturn and his career planet Venus in the twelfth house of loss and seclusion -- hospitals, islands, ashrams and prisons.  But, it's the June 10 solar eclipse that will truly nail him.

So again, hold your hat.  Let's see what unfolds.  Certainly, though, out of this cacophony, some good and meaningful progress for humanity must result.
