Into The New Year
The planets don't care about the New Year. There's no celestial celebration as our man-made calendar marking the change. Yet, we naturally consider what the New Year brings to distinguish our past year's situation and consider from the future year looks like, or can be.
There's obviously major, inexplicable, even transformational change in this year's transition from one year to the next -- even though the worldly seas truly continue a long tempest. Primary culprits are continued global warming and the Trump cult. We truly don't cross any border entering 2024. That, then, is the first prognostication for 2024.
The second observation in this Into The New Year forecast is the ocean of karma remains turbulent in an unending and continuous barrage of heavy karma. Acceptance is necessary to avoid unbearable stress. If you don't bend, you break.
Third, with so much disturbance for so long, and no dawning of serenity on the horizon, the mind is fatigued, and a respite increasingly needed. We can't take any more bad news but are too fearful to turn off the computer or TV. Unlike other times, there's no vacation from the world. We can't escape from conflicted issues. big or small. So, we feel stuck and powerless, instigating a fear that drives out any good feelings. Life is a hangover.
Fourth, we have to accept we're all pulled into these dramas and must act to safeguard ourselves, family and community. Certainly leadership by example is helpful, but that's tacit and only influences some few others, not the overall situation. Action, hopefully proactive, is the remaining choice, but what to do? Our options about dealing with global warming and Trump are limited in number and scope, such as my recent decision to keep my home generator actively ready at all times. Any action is better than inaction when your existence is threatened.
Fifth, we are all threatened with climate and political consequences. We can't know what climate disasters will befall us, but we know these are inescapable and growing. And the Trump cult also seems unpreventable. Remember the March 19, 2023 First They Came?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me |
Change is inevitable, and while our increasingly old population resists change as threatening, we have to accept it, embrace it and do what we can to lift up the future. We can't hide any more than a turtle, which can still be eating by a predator or crushed on a roadway.
