#67 The September Eclipse Season & Osama Bin Laden August 27, 2006
September Eclipse Season Twice each year, and roughly six months apart, the eclipse season comes. Although eclipses vary, typically there's one each solar and lunar eclipse. This year, there's a weak partial eclipse of the Moon on September 7 at 21 degrees Aquarius. Following, there's a compelling solar annular (a total eclipse in which the Sun's edge is visible around the Moon's shadow) September 22 at 5 degrees, 23 minutes Virgo.
{Note: Eclipses are particularly locationally specific. They only eclipse (block) a planet when the eclipse point is within a couple of degree of that planet, although larger distances sometimes display eclipse effects. A historic example was the August 22, 1998 solar eclipse at 4:58 Leo, on top of Bill Clinton's 2:52 Sun (career and reputation). The Starr Report was released to the public September 11, and Bill Clinton apologized on television the same day. A dramatic example is the October 14, 2004, partial solar eclipse on Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards' chart, just weeks before the election. The eclipse occurred at 27 degrees and 12 minutes in Virgo -- almost exactly on Edwards' Saturn at 27:29. As Saturn is Edwards' career planet, the eclipse harmed his ability to draw votes. (These example point out that eclipses give effects well beyond, and sometimes before, the actual eclipse date.) Of course, as eclipses are transits, consideration must also be given to the chart's planetary cycles (Dasas) as the underlying karmic current on the river of life -- for transits are secondary as weather on the river. When John Edwards' career was eclipsed, he had just begun his Saturn planetary cycle .}
September 7 Lunar Eclipse
As alcohol and drugs are often used in Moon/Rahu situations to maneuver to a more balanced emotional state, it's best to minimize or avoid these during the week before and after the lunar eclipse.
September 22 Annular Solar Eclipse
For Celestial Wheel analysis (world events), we would look at public figures and nations charts to determine if any planet is hit by the Solar eclipse, though the lunar eclipse should be checked as well. After all, a direct hit, even in a weak lunar eclipse, is still a direct hit. Additionally, if the afflicted chart's Dasas (planetary cycles) include the Sun and/or Ketu, the confirming planetary karma will be inescapable.
More About The Solar Eclipse
Mars and Mercury are also in Virgo, placing five planets in that sign. This is a great stellium, and because so many planets are crammed into one sign, it signifies intensified conflicted planetary energies. {Note: When a stellium occurs in a birthchart, the person has a rough time early in life, until he/she learns how to integrate these multiple energies. Still, it's a caldron always brewing in the chart. I often tell clients that a stellium is analogous to putting five cats in a bag. It takes a while for them to calm, and even, then, five cats remain in the bag.} Mars' presence over-stimulates the lunar emotions and creates a Mars/Sun militancy. Mercury combines with Mars and the Sun for manipulative selfishness and ruthless reactive aggression in which the ends justify the means. Timothy Mcvie of the Oklahoma City Federal Building bombing had Mercury/Mars/Sun conjunct in his chart.) Considering that the stellium in itself is a major astrological influence, it will also bring its own effects independent of the solar eclipse, especially given the location in the destructive sixth house. Certainly, it's combination with this potent solar eclipse must make last half of September must be eventful globally. Expect, then, that events resulting from the solar eclipse will be amplified and violent by these sixth house and stellium factors
Eclipsed Public Figures And Nations The now several dozen charts of nations and public figures in this astrologer's library were reviewed to determine whether the solar (and or lunar) eclipse hit any planets. Of these, several will be solar eclipse targets: Karen Hughes, Richard Clarke, Scooter Libby, Wesley Clarke and Bill Clinton (again) each have a planet in Virgo close to the 5:23 eclipse point. However, while public figures, none of these are national leaders, whose charts are pivot points. Further, there's not enough planetary karma in the eclipse proximity to the affected planet, together with the chart's Dasas, to indicate catastrophe. China's chart too is hit, with it's Sun at 4:40 Virgo. Because the Sun is the subject planet here, look for government to be beset by problems it cannot solve during the fall. However, as China's birth time is not known, and not yet rectified, any prediction must be general.
Osama Bin Laden Eclipsed
Because the third house is short trips, the ninth house long journeys and Jupiter foreign travel, risk is increased if Bin Laden changes locations. Then, he is exposed. Jupiter and the ninth house also signify the teacher, which in this case may be Bin Laden's second in command, Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, who has been a teacher to him.
Osama Bin Laden Previously Eclipsed in December 2001 It is provocative that Bin Laden was eclipsed December 8.2001, when U.S. bombed his Tora Bora cave home, and he had to flea the area. Bin Laden was injured, and he disappeared completely for several months. This was discussed in the January 10, 2003 In-depth Celestial Wheel, #6 Is Osama Bin Laden Alive? That solar eclipse was also annular, but it was a long fourteen degrees away from Saturn. Yet, Saturn is a a double-influence planet for destruction in his chart. Also notice that the December 14 eclipse occured a week after the December 8 Tora Bora attack, giving an example of an eclipse effect before the astronomical eclipse date. Also, at that time, Bin Laden's Dasa planets were Jupiter/Jupiter/Jupiter/Sun. This lineup shows that Jupiter is not very protective in this chart and also, that the presence of the Sun as a Dasa planets does activate eclipse effects.
A lovely solar eclipse shadow -- the only safe way to view this potent astronomical and astrological event
For Those To Whom Ancient Vedic Astrology Is New For new subscribers, as well as long standing supporters of The Celestial Wheel, ancient Vedic Astrology remains new -- and also Eastern-alien to our culture's Western Astrology. Yet, both astrologies are similar enough to encourage transferring the meanings of the planets, houses and signs from one system to the other. This works to a degree, most notably for the planets, whose meanings are somewhat similar in both astrology languages -- despite the Spanglish issue. Both astrologies agree that, although each planet has hundreds of denotative and connotative meanings, primary and definitional ones are:
The Moons Nodes, eclipse points for the Sun and the Moon, are, however, much more important in Vedic Astrology than in the western system. These are called Rahu and Ketu and symbolize past and future karma. This power can be understand in Rhau and Ketu being eclipse points -- if a planet can block the light of the Sun and the Moon, doesn't that make it more powerful than either of those? The below essay describes the North and South Nodes using both Hindu mythology and specifics.
