In The Clear!
The following recounts two key earlier predictions, which have since been affirmed repeatedly that 2010 is basically a favorable year. Yet, repetition is useful to nail home important trends 2010 is the window of opportunity for many to do necessary transformation during the prolonged 2008 to 2015 Millennium Contraction. Cutting back on expenses and debts is but a first step. 2010 is the year to begin rebuilding, or even more accurately, building anew more streamlined and sustainable lifestyles.
First, Jupiter and Saturn and the eclipse points (Rahu and Ketu) are determinative for the global planetary weather.. Jupiter and Saturn are the big planets which also enclose the solar system. As such, they steer the astronomical planets' energies -- from Mercury outward. The eclipse points (Rahu and Ketu) symbolize future karmas and those karmas from the past. They are calculated points, not astronomical planets, and as such exert this time oriented set of karmas in the most impactive and profound ways. In 2009, all four of these planets were badly disposed by sign, harming their influences. For 2010, however, all are in favorable signs, which enable their best qualities to be expressed. 2009 was a year most of us would rather forget for that reason, and 2010 is a year to look forward to. It's a good year for planetary weather.
This was explained initially in the November 29 Celestial Wheel Commentary,

Saturn does well in Gemini, and the Sun and Venus are past their fallen (weak) signs. Even Rahu and Ketu -- the head and tails of the dragon eclipse points -- are well placed now in Sagittarius and Gemini. |
Second, 2010 begins with a bumpy ride, which we we must endure but also which does not change the affirmative planetary weather for calender 2010.
Beyond some short term planetary transit stresses last month, including the January 15 solar eclipse, Mercury has been afflicted since December 15 and is finally free as of today. This clears the unstable planetary storms, permitting the rest of 2010 to benefit from the predicted favorable global planetary weather.
Mercury is the planet of communications and thus naturally symbolizes business (particularly finance), the nervous system and reputation. Mercury has been badly afflicted since mid December, as first explained in the December 12, 2009 In-depth Forecast, U.S. And Global Economic Trends For 2010,
| ...there's truly troublesome planetary disposition in Mercury doing a dirty dance with eclipse point Rahu from about December 17 through early February. This long association results from Mercury's retrograde December 26 to January 15. It will stimulate worldwide anxiety. February 2 and 3 was a sensitive date, marking the end of Mercury's afflictions. This was explained in the January 24 Celestial Wheel, Mercury/Rahu Tues, Wed Feb 2, 3 Mercury's business, communications, nervous system.
Yesterday, February 3 was certainly a bad day for James Arthur Ray. He was arrested on triple manslaughter charges, James Arthur Ray ARRESTED: Self-Help Guru Charged In 3 'Spiritual Warrior' Sweat Lodge Deaths. The question arises, however, whether other criminal charges will be filed for the 20 people were injured -- against Ray and/or others involved in the sweat lodge. However, this is a local Sedona issue, rather one of far-reaching importance.
There were also two very disturbing media reports of U.S. cities in dire straights, Pennsylvania State Capital Mulls Bankruptcy as a Budget Option and in Phoenix, a desperate City Counsel decided, OK to 2% tax on food.

While these occurrences are certainly dramatically negative, they do signal the end to the early winter's planetary afflictions. Also, their range and intensity, they indicate a substantial amount of challenging karma has occurred, which means these harms to not recur. In a very real sense then, this bad news is good news for heralding good karmas to be expressed.

Popular Protests Gaining Momentum
The long awaited and much needed grass roots rebellion against the excesses of the Second Gilded Age is gaining momentum. The financial sector is the big target, recently illuminated by news of 2010 bonuses, AIG plans to pay $100 million in another round of bonuses and Time for bonus round at banks. Though bank bonuses are just a chapter in the story of what caused the financial crisis, they have become a lightning rod and a symbol of excess. What makes the banks' balancing act even harder is the relativity of the issue. For example, Goldman Sachs announced last week that chief executive Lloyd Blankfein's bonus pay would be cut dramatically - but he'll still get a payout of $9 million, not exactly Main Street standards. |

Banks only exist because the public deposits its savings with them. By targeting their own depositors with abusive lending practices and fees on bank accounts to replace income lost on bad loans and speculations, the banks are bankrupting their depositors and chasing them off -- thereby killing the goose that laid the golden egg. While it may sound cruel, Americans understand Bin Laden only killed 3,000 on 9-11, and the bankers have destroyed the entire economy. However, if you believe government is getting the message and will truly reform the system, you're wrong. And comparing the high incomes of bankers with professional sports figures ignores the facts that (1) sports team franchises are controlled by their leagues to suppress competition, (2) these teams hugely benefit from sports arenas built by cities and (3) ticket prices have gone through the roof. Professional sports pay is just as rigged for high pay as the financial industry is, and that doesn't even consider the hundreds of millions team owners rake in.

The Vedic Astrology of Popular Protests
Popular Protests arise from ethical and wise Jupiter being stimulated by energetic Mars aspecting (glancing upon) Jupiter. This has been explained and detailed several times in The Celestial Wheel, most notably in the December 12, 2009 In-depth Forecast, U.S. And Global Economic Trends For 2010. Here's a cogent excerpt,
| There is one distinct and needed benefit to this planetary cycle -- that Jupiter/Mars are entwined in transit. This...will bring out advocacy -- for Jupiter is ethics and Mars is energy. Expect popular protests to finally mount as Americans are pushed closer to the edge -- while corporations gouge them and reward themselves. Note that Mars aspecting Jupiter continues to early September of this year, adding energy to popular protests -- like a tropical storm draws energy from warm ocean waters to become a hurricane. Further, Mars serves to destroy Jupiter's wealth, which further feeds the hurricane of popular protests.
That Forecast also identified a peak period, the most difficult interval will be from March 10 (when Mars ends its weak retrograde), to May 17, when the U.S. chart ends Mars/Rahu planetary cycle. At least one sensitive date comes from this -- March 9 and 10 -- when Mars reverses direction from retrograde to forward. (Recall how powerful this U-turn can be, for it was Saturn's change from retrograde to forward motion that brought the Haiti earthquake January 12, as well as the specifically predicted Ecuador volcano the same day.)
Celestial Wheel Participants are largely from the U.S. but others are from Canada, England and India. While it would be impractical to focus forecasting upon these countries, we truly are in a global economy, sickened by the plague of American greed. Libertarianism comes directly early immigrants seeking religious freedom. A Libertarian symbol is the Garsden flag, with the legend, Don't Tread On Me. There's a long and fascinating history on this symbol. Wikepedia has a great summary.
On the other end of the bell curve is what The Celestial Wheel calls, He Ain't heavy, He's My Brother," a 1969 protest song with 1920s roots in Kiwanis and Boys Town -- public service organizations. This is the concept of obligation and duty to help and protect one another, and government has a major role in that effort. These folks are classic liberals.
Both groups, distanced as they are on the societal bell curve, share the same goal of rooting our entrenched interests to regain shared democratic values -- the Second Progressive Age.
As protests build, it is useful to understand the nature of the groups in regard to these two extremes -- and even look forward to their basically shared values uniting against Bankers -- Economic Terrorists. Recall the Arab saying, The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Property And Snow Storms During Mars Transit
Beyond Mars aspecting Jupiter through the fall of 2010, Mars causes further harms in being stuck in Cancer, it's fallen sign, from October 5, 2009 to May 26, 2010. This was first explained in the July 6, 2009 Commentary, complete with a time-line graph,
| Cancer is Mars' fallen sign, which aggravates him. The fourth house of the natural zodiac, indicating global conditions, ...is the home, giving a hint to harms -- further real estate losses and violences. Cancer is the eighth house in the U.S. chart, which is turmoil, even catastrophe. So, expect the fall of 2009 through the spring of 2010 will bring further karmic reckoning with the excesses of the Second Gilded Age. |
Real estate losses, and not just in residential, are predicted. Commercial real estate has been a bomb waiting to explode for months now as shopping centers, office buildings, hotels and rental apartments empty out. The violences appears to be actualizing in the predicted severe winter storms. As noted above in U.S. And Global Economic Trends For 2010, There is also the likelihood of the Swine flu and "fierce winter storms." So, don't count out the swine flu being over either.

The Moon With Mars
Today and tomorrow, the perceptional/emotional Moon will be in Cancer with aggressive Mars. This stirs everything up -- including the listing of Mars harms in the above February 23 entry. One subscriber called on her cell this morning -- because a computer failure prevented e-mailing!
We can already see this energy in the watery Moon with destructive Mars causing plumbing problems, Dubai Mall partly evacuated after aquarium leak.

This image was included in the January 29, 2010 entry, when this same configuration last occurred. As stated then, This Heads-up suggests you keep your head down today and through the evening. While intense planetary karma such as this cannot be completed avoided, advance notice can help you mitigate its effect -- like it's better to trip on a door threshold than trip while rock climbing.
Yet, even as Moon/Mars brings unpleasant and damaging events, there is a silver lining, for Only through turmoil comes change -- and change is imperative to deal with the Millennium Contraction. This involves macro societal issues of course but the micro level of your own personal transformation also operates.

Chili Earthquake & Tsunami
The above February 25 entry cautioned that day and the next (Friday) are a sensitive date. Winter Storms was specifically predicted, although since it is Mars' destructive energy in kapha (watery) Cancer with the kapha Moon (home), an earthquake that generates a tsunami makes sense.
Early this morning that karma actualized, 8.8-magnitude earthquake hits central Chile; tsunami warnings issued for Hawaii, Australia, South America. A chart for the 3:34 AM earthquake in Talca Chili is ruinous, as expected.
For the U. S. chart, there isn't much risk, and the destructive karma appears to have played out in the N.E. snowstorm. However, drawing a chart for Hawaii at the estimated 11:19 AM estimated time for a tsunami wave, indicates some wealth destruction from waves but not so much loss of life or injuries.
